Description of the project
We were instructed by a family whose father fled the country during WWII to find out who the legal owner of a hotel was.
This is because during the communist era, homes and other property were confiscated by the government. As a result, this property could be assigned a completed different designated use. After the fall of communism, this property was returned to the legal owner, often in a poor condition. However, these owners had to claim the property within a certain time period. Unfortunately, a lot of people had meanwhile fled the country, moved house, died or were otherwise unable to demonstrate that this property was or had indeed been theirs. The country still has buildings and plots of land of which no one knows who or where the owner is.
